Our Story
On November 3, 2019, our daughter Ashlyn Maise Leide was hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. During this difficult time, we were provided with care packages that were donated from a local nonprofit organization - Project Renewed Hope. These care packages helped give us a sense of comfort and normalcy despite the situation we were in.
Sadly, our sweet baby girl passed away on December 4, 2019, at only 3 months old from a rare and fatal developmental lung disorder: Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia with Misalignment of the Pulmonary Veins. We wanted to come up with a way to honor the memory of Ashlyn Maise by helping other families, but didn’t know how to make that vision a reality.
In February 2020, we were contacted by a chaplain at Wolfson Children’s Hospital about taking over Project Renewed Hope. We took this as a sign and immediately said: Yes!
We began working with the president of Project Renewed Hope, and decided to start our own nonprofit while the original organization was dismantled. In July 2020, Team A.Maise, Inc. was founded, and certified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
We are so excited to be on this journey and touched by the kindness of our supporters.
Together, we can all be A-Maise-ing!
